Rev. Uriah Dyson,

Rev. Billy Uriah Dyson, age 79, of Taylorsville, passed away on February 7th, 2012 at his residence.  He was born on July 10th, 1932 in Alexander county to parents Ophus Cleophus and Julie Barnes Dyson.  He was a Baptist Pastor for 45 years, during which time he pastored Fairview Baptist in Hiddenite, Calvary Baptist in Lenoir, and was interim pastor at both Lebanon Baptist in Taylorsville and Mathis Chapel in Catawba County.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons: Randy and Mark Dyson; 1 brother, Rev. Devon Dyson; and 6 sisters: Ethel Fox, Reba Price, Ruby Chapman, Ruth Fox, Sybil Mitchell, and Hilda Chapman.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Betty B. Dyson of the home; 2 sons: Tim Dyson & wife Rita of Taylorsville, and Terry Dyson of Daytona Beach, FL; 3 brothers: Graydon, Maynard, and Dwight Dyson - all of Taylorsville; and 1 sister, Bobby Jean Miller - also of Taylorsville.  He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren: Dr. Matt Dyson & wife Ashley of Hickory, Shay Jackson & husband Zol of High Point, and Chris Dyson of Daytona Beach, FL; 4 great-grandchildren: Eric & Emory Jackson of High Point, Hank & June Dyson of Hickory; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be conducted on Thursday, February 9th, at Liledoun Baptist Church from 5-8:30 P.M.  Funeral service Friday, February 10th at Liledoun at 2:00 P.M. Rev. James Lockee, Rev. Phil Chapman, Rev. Jamie Steele, and Rev. Coy Walker will officiate.  The body will lie in state half an hour prior to the funeral hour.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Catawba Valley @ 3975 Robinson Rd. Phil Branton, Rev. Jack Lewis, Rev. Tim Greene, Rev. Luke Brakefield, and Harold Adams. Bobby Story will serve as an honorary.   Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
