Rex Gene Haas, age 86, of Taylorsville, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday,
September 7, 2022, at his residence. Rex was born November 11, 1935 in Caldwell County to Gener Haas and Edith Tolbert Haas. Rex graduated from Oak Hill High School in Caldwell County, NC and proudly served in the US Navy for four years. While serving in the Navy, Rex was an underwater welder and machinist. Mr. Haas was a member of Dover Baptist Church and attended Liledoun Baptist Church. Rex enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and talking to people. He loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Pennell Haas, brother, Tony Lee Haas, sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and O.C. Bumgarner, brother-in-law, Rev. Ken Pritchard and step-daughter, Cathy Mecimore.
Rex is survived by his wife of 24 years, Ada Warren Haas, son, Steven Haas and companion Amy Raymon of Houston, TX; grandson, Paden Haas and wife Amanda, and great-granddaughter Leah of Hampton, VA; brother, Avery Haas and wife Brigitte of Ocean Springs, MS; two sisters, Lillian Pritchard of Fayetteville, NC, and Earlene Winebarger and husband Larry of Lenoir, NC; sister-in-law Sandra Haas of Hays, NC; step-daughter, Sheila Miller and husband David of Fleetwood, NC; step-son-in-law, Larry Mecimore of Taylorsville, NC, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who dearly loved him and he adored.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, in the Dover Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 am. Rev. Larry Winebarger will officiate.
