Rick Lynn Lackey

Mr. Richard “Rick” Lynn Lackey is now walking on streets of gold. Rick passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health. Rick was born on February 19, 1959 to Waitsell Delano Lackey and the late Faye Belle Jolly Lackey in Alexander County. Rick was saved by the grace of God, a member of Wayfound Baptist Church where he served his Lord as the choir leader. Rick loved his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his mother Rick was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Helen Hefner and brother-in-law, Todd Hefner.
Those left to cherish and share the memories of Rick include his wife on thirty-nine years, Tayne Lackey, father, Waitsell Lackey (Donnie), daughter, Brooke Williams (Billy), son, Jordan Lackey (Amber), two brothers, Mark Lackey (Angie) , and Greg Lackey, one sister, Karen Thomas (Jeff), seven grandchildren, Mackenzie Williams, McKayleigh Lackey, Rylyn Williams, Kennady Lackey, Israel Lackey, Carter Williams, and Isaac Lackey, father-in-law, Cloyd Hefner, and a number of special friends, nieces and nephews.

Rick’s body will Lie-in- state for the public to view at Alexander Funeral Service on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Wayfound Baptist Church at 3:30 pm. The body will Lie-in-State 30 minutes prior to the service. Rev. Jim Bowman, Bro. Michael White, Pastor Sam Vallini and son-in-law, Billy Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wayfound Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan Lackey, Josh Thomas, Chris Thomas, Alex Lackey, Andy Lackey, DJ Marshall, Chris Altemose, Michael White and Jeff White.
Rick’s service will be broadcast on FM radio station 94.3.
The family request the COVID-19 “social distancing” be observed.
