Robert Arthur Hall, age 79, of the Bethlehem community, passed away on Saturday, August 3,2013. Born in Alexander County on September 4, 1933, to the late Jordan Wesley Hall and Ethel Dingler Hall Weaver. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of God, where he served as a former Sunday School teacher and a lay Preacher in various churches in Western North Carolina. He was a veteran of the US Army, during Korea, and a member of the DAV Chapter 84 Taylorsville, where he was a life time member and served on the Honor Guard. Robert was formally a barber at the Bethlehem Barber Shop. He was an upholster, having worked for St. Timothy Chair, which became Classic Leather and Paul Robert Chair. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time, as well as his tractor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife- Betty Perline May Hall, as well as seven siblings, and a great grandchild. Those left to cherish his memory are one son- Ken (Jodie) Hall of Hickory ; one daughter- Regina (Terry) Matthews, of Bethlehem; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and an expected great-grandchild. He also has three step grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6 ,2013, at the funeral home. Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6 ,2013 at Alexander Funeral Service Chapel . Officiating will be Billy Joe Phillips and Rev. Stowy Lankford. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. Military Rites will be conducted by DAV Post 84 of Taylorville, and Post 6 of Hudson. Memorials may be made to DAV Post 84, 582 Carrigan Rd. Taylosville, NC, 28681.
