Robert Junior Goble, age 82, of the Ellendale Community, passed away unexpectedly at Frye Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. Born in Alexander County on April 11, 1930 to the late Oscar Cleo and Dolly Ann (Warren) Goble. He worked for Century Furniture for 42 years and during his retirement he worked for Royale Comfort Seating for 21 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a bee keeper, enjoyed gardening and liked to play golf. Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife - Thelma Bertha Teague Goble; his brother - Kelly Goble; and three sisters - Pauline Childers, Maxine Eckerd and Arcola Johnson. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters - Ann Dobbins and husband Richard, of Albany, GA and Darlene Bowles and husband Barry, of Taylorsville; three sons - Garry Goble and wife Vicki, of Hickory; Clyde Goble and wife Pat, of Taylorsville and Lee Goble, of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren - Denika Menis, Kasey Johnson, Brandy Pennell, and Jennifer Bowles, all of Taylorsville; Cassandra and Andrea Goble, of Brentwood, TN and Ricky Dobbins, of Albany, GA; seven great grandchildren; one brother - Elbert Goble and one sister Ruby Mitchell, of Taylorsville.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church. Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Morris, Rev. Dennis Spivey and Rev. Elbert Goble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Johnson, Jimmy Menis, Roy Little, James Goble, Danny Dyson and Kenny Pennell with Honorary pallbearers Terry Little, William Fox and Hunter Bost.
