Robert Garver Racey

Robert Garver Racey, 89, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. He was born on Monday, August 5, 1935, in Albany, New York. Robert led a life marked by dedication, love for family, and service to his country.

A proud veteran, Robert served honorably in both the United States Marines and Army, displaying a commitment to protecting and serving that exemplified his character. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as the owner and operator of his own trucking business, where he earned the respect and admiration of those in the industry.

A devoted family man, Robert cherished the time spent with loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Myrtle Racey, and his children, Deborah Farinelli, Ronald Racey (Kelley), and Charles Racey. He took immense joy in being a grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren. Robert also leaves behind his brother, William Racey, his sister, Elizabeth Epstein (Sol), as well as several extended family members.

Robert’s life was also enriched by his faith; he attended Linney's Grove Baptist Church, where he found a spiritual home and community. In addition to his many roles, he enjoyed woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and craftsmanship.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Garver Racey, and his grandson, Christopher Farinelli.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

As we remember Robert, we honor his legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
