Robert "Rob" Howard Elder, Jr., age 52, of Taylorsville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 19, 2014. He was born in Montgomery County, Ohio on April 5, 1961 to Robert Howard Elder, Sr. and Wanda Kay Lee Elder. Rob was employed by Walmart in Conover for 8 years and formerly worked at Broyhill in Taylorsville for 27 years. He was a member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church and he volunteered for VBS at both East Taylorsville Baptist Church and Stony Point Baptist Church. Rob enjoyed softball, was a fan of wrestling along with his son, Caleb, and a fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was a volunteer fireman for Central Alexander Fire Department and enjoyed gardening. Rob was preceded in death by his stepdaughter: Haylee Natalia Morrison; and father-in-law: Jerry Morrison. Along with his parents, those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of 16 years: Angie Morrison Elder of the home; son: Caleb Lynn Elder of the home; brothers: Randy Elder and wife Donna of Taylorsville and Ricky Elder and wife Beverly of Taylorsville; mother-in-law: Natalia Morrison of Stony Point; brother-in-law: Lynn Morrison of Stony Point; nephews: Cory Elder, Joseph Morrison of Taylorsville, and Landis Elder of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and nieces: Brianna Elder, Lauren Elder, Lacey Elder, Tabitha Morrison of Taylorsville, and Megan Lira of Troutman.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jamie Steele, Rev. Landis Elder, Rev. Phil Addison, and Rev. Gary Jennings officiating. Burial will take place after the service at Taylorsville City Cemetery.
