Rockwell Hill, age 86, life long resident of Taylorsville, passed away inMontgomeryGeneralHospitalin Silver Springs, Maryland, on April 19, 2011. Born to the late Ethel Mae Hill, on Sept. 24, 1924 in AlexanderCounty, he was a member of MacedoniaBaptistChurch, where he had served as a deacon for fifty years. He was president of the Sunday School Convention and was a Mason. Rockwell had served on the Alexander County Board of Education. He was owner of Hills Body Shop and Used Car Sales. He loved restoring antique cars and hunting. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lee Flowers Hill and three siblings; Laura Belle Hill, Eli Hill and Ernestine Hill, as well as an infant son born in 1956. He is survived by a daughter Maxine Hill of Silver Springs, Marylandand one son Tommy Hill and wife Mable Dixon Hill of Durham. Two grandsons, Juston Thomas and Jordan Lee Hill, both of Durham, also survive. Mr. Hill has a number of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, April 28th, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Service from 6-8:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at MacedoniaBaptistChurch. The Rev. Sterling Howard, Rev. William Brown and Rev. Ardeal Roseboro will officiate. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the Funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service of Taylorsville is serving the family of Rockwell Hill.
