Roger “Sarg’ “Bull Dog” Lee Barr, 64, of 257 10th Street, Fieldale, Virginia, passed away on June 15, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.  He was born on May 27, 1949 to Connie Neaves Barr and the late Raymond Cecil Barr.  Roger was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Fieldale, Virginia.  He worked for Stanley Furniture and he enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.  Along with his father he is preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Dean Barr and his sister, Shelby Jean Sherril. Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Lana Louise Barr of the home; sons, Roger Allen Barr and wife, April of Bassett; Adam Troy Barr and Joseph Daniel Barr of Fieldale; grandchildren, Nathan Lee Barr; Kaline Raines, Glenna Raines, Dallas Barr and Dallie Barr; mother, Connie Neaves Barr; three brothers, Billy Joe Barr of Taylorsville, NC, James Raymond Barr of Statesville, NC, Charles Daniel Barr of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Betty Sue Hurley of Statesville, NC and Ruth Ellen Foster of Georgia several nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 10:00 o’clock in the morning till 12:00 o’clock in the afternoon in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel.  A graveside service will follow the visitation in the Arnold Family Cemetery on Ridgecrest Circle in Hardy, Virginia with military graveside rites. Bassett Funeral Service is handling the arrangements for the Barr family and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.bassettfuneralservice.com
