Ronald Herman Brewer, age 75, of the Bethlehemcommunity, passed away on Thursday night, June 30th, 2011 at Catawba Valley Hospice.  He was born on August 14th, 1935 in Wilkes County to the late Herman and Edith Kendall Brewer.  Ronald served in the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam – from which he earned various medals.  In addition, he served in the North Carolina National Guard for over a year.  He worked as an insurance agent and also owned the Latino food mart on Springs Road in Hickory for over 20 years.  He was a member of the Bethlehem Bass Club as well as the Gunpowder Creek Regulators.  Ronald enjoyed fishing and was an avid target shooter.  Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Olga Reyes Brewer of the home; 2 daughters: Beth Hoffman of Wilkesboro, and Amy Brewer of the Outer Banks; and his grandson, William Hoffman of Wilkesboro.  He also leaves behind a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church in Bethlehem.  A memorial service will follow at 3 PM.  After the memorial service, military honors will be conducted in the churchyard to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Catawba Valley Human Society @ 3471 Valley Arbors Drive, Hickory, 28602 (OR) Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley @ 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, 28658.   Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service has been entrusted with the care of the Brewer family.
