Rosa Payne Jenkins,

Rosa Payne Jenkins, age 72, of Taylorsville, passed away in Baptist Hospital, on Saturday, February 12, 2011, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born Oct. 9, 1938, in Alexander Co. to the late Glenn Arlington and Emma Sally Pennell Payne, she had attended Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She was retired from Carolina Glove after 45 years of service. In addition, to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Luke Jenkins, as well as three brothers, Escar, Dock, and Lewis Payne and one sister, Arlene Elder. She is survived by one daughter, Sherri Lloyd and husband Billy of Taylorsville. One granddaughter, Courtney Lloyd, also of Taylorsville. Two sisters: Glenda Marlow of Statesville, and Estelle Brackett of Salisbury. She has a number of nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Mary Gregory of Taylorsville. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, from 7-8:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service with memorial services at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow on Wed. Feb. 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
