Roy "Barnes" Bumgarner

Roy "Barnes" Bumgarner, age 75, of Taylorsville, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at his residence. Barnes was born in Alexander County on March 21, 1941 to the late Arthur Atwell and Fannie Barnes Bumgarner. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents Barnes was preceded in death by sisters: Vivian Lackey, Shirley Watts, Hilda Mash, Nancy Walker, Esther White; and brother Wade Bumgarner.
Barnes leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Betty Lou Stansel Bumgarner, four children, Rita Bumgarner, Rex Bumgarner & wife Karen, Christy Bumgarner & wife Kelly, Todd Bumgarner & wife Tracy; two sisters, Janie Sprinkle & husband Donald, Donna Rhyne & husband Chris; brother Cainie Bumgarner & wife Pat, special daughter in law, Kimberly Marlowe, grandchildren: Kevin Wyatt & wife Tawana, Zachary & Ethan Bumgarner, and Reece Bumgarner, great grandchild: Elixa Wyatt, special friend & coworker, Peggy Fox, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1:30-3:30 pm Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Service. A graveside service will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Bumgarner and Rev. Tanner Mundy will be officiating.
