Russell Maynard Teague, Jr.

Russell Maynard Teague, Jr., age 81, of Granite Falls passed away on January 21, 2018. Mr. Teague was born on August 18, 1936 to Russell Maynard Teague, Sr. and Edna Medlin Teague. He was married to Mary Elizabeth “Tootsie” Reid Teague for 49 years. Mr. Teague is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Maynard Teague, Sr. and Edna Medlin Teague; his wife Mary Elizabeth “Tootsie” Reid Teague; son, Russell Maynard “Rusty” Teague III; step-granddaughter, Kisha White; grandson, Tyler Teague; and sisters, Ann Baker and Gail Clark.

He is survived by his children, Melissa Davidson (Lee) of Granite Falls; Scott Teague (Gina) of Granite Falls; Mary Beth Woods (Jeff) of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Laura Davidson of Granite Falls; Courtney Davidson of Nashville, TN; Mason and Abram Teague of Granite Falls; Makayla and Corey Woods of Danville VA; sister, Jane White (Max) of Bethlehem; aunt, Marge Chapman of Hickory; brother-in-law, Dale Clark of Hickory; sisters-in-law, Emilie Hefner of Bethlehem and Becky Reid of Granite Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Teague was a committed member of Oxford Memorial Baptist Church. A pillar in the Oak Hill community, Mr. Teague served as Oak Hill Ruritan Club President, volunteer fire chief for Little River Fire Department, and on Oak Hill School PTA alongside his wife for 25 years. Mr. Teague also acted as president of Carolina Comfort Furniture for many years.

A graveside service will be held at Oxford Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery on January 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Oxford Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 2889 Old NC 90 Rd., Taylorsville, NC 28681.
