Sallie Jane Pennell,

Sallie Jane Pennell, age 82 of Taylorsvillepassed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.  Born in Catawba County to the late Willie and Naomi Davidson Poarch on April 26, 1929, and she was a member of MountainRidgeBaptistChurch.  She enjoyed crocheting and camping.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, William Albert Pennell.  Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Albert Price Pennell; four daughters:  Nina Sigmon and husband Dennis, Jane Spaugh, Cindy Robbins and husband Mark, and Patricia Phillips and husband Richard.  Four grandchildren:  Doug Sigmon, Dawn McCoy and husband Sidney (II), Frankie Speagle, and Scott Phillips.  Four great-grandchildren:  Sidney McCoy III, Ashleigh Waugh and husband Cameron, Douglas Ralph Sigmon Jr, and Shyann Sigmon.  And two great-great grandchildren:  Mason Waugh and Brealyn McCoy.  She also leaves behind two sisters:  Eva Mae “Pete” Cloniger, and Neva Faye Broome, and one brother Grady Pennell, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.  The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Service, Friday, November 4 from 11 am – 12 noon.  The funeral service will follow at MountainRidgeBaptistChurchat 12:30pm with Rev. Mark Adams, and Rev. Alan Fox officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve Lail, Quentin Burke, Scott Phillips, Douglas Sigmon, Sidney McCoy III, and Graydean “Poss” Teague.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Sigmon, Mark Robbins, and Richard Phillips.  The family has requested that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, 28645.    Arrangements entrusted to Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service.
