Samson "Sam" Newsome,

Samson N. “Sam” Newsome, age 89, of the Bethlehem community passed away in his home Saturday, January 28.  Born July 18, 1922 in Johnson County, Georgia to the late Samson N. and Ida (Wasdon) Newsome, he was a US Army Veteran having served in WWII and was a member of Bethlehem Church of God.  Besides his parents, those who are preceded in death are the mother of his children Lucille Newsome.  Those left to cherish the memories of Mr. Newsome are his wife Dorothy Newsome of the home; four children Vickie Newsome, Stan Newsome and wife Rhonda, Samson Newsome II, and Veronica Flaherty and husband Bob. Three brothers, George Broxton and wife Ann, Lester Broxton, and Cyrus Newsom; one sister Eloise Matthews and husband Charlie; as well as a sister-in-law Helen; also surviving are four step-children twenty grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon with the Funeral service to begin at 12 noon at Bethlehem Church of God.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Howard Smith will officiate. DAV Post 84 will afford Military Honors at the grave.   Arrangements entrusted to Alexander Funeral & Cremation Service.
