Sandra Petrea Smith,

Sandra Petrea Smith, age 64, of Taylorsville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 28, 1949 in Caldwell County to the late Riley and Alda Auton Petrea. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in April of 1958 and later became a member at Antioch Baptist Church. Sandra was very active in the Nitro Kids Ministry and the Puppet Ministry at Antioch. She practiced as a hair dresser for over 35 years and co-owned Trends Hair Salon in Granite Falls with best friend, Tina Sharpe. Along with her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her two brothers: Harry Petrea and R. J. Petrea; and one sister: Joyce Pennington. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Lynn Smith of the home; two daughters: Michelle T. Sigmon and husband Scott of Taylorsville, and Melanie Smith of Gastonia; one grandson: Louis Smith of Gastonia; brothers: Jerry Petrea and wife Mabel of Taylorsville, and Frank Petrea and Shirley of Taylorsville; sisters: Sybil Harris and husband Jack of Valdese, and Barbara P. Pennell and the late Steve Pennell of Lenoir; half-sister Virginia "Tootsie" Watts of Kannapolis; sister-in-law Francis Petrea of Taylorsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 5:00 pm- 8:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church. Services will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jesse Petrea, Greg Bowman, Tyler Herman, William Herman, Robert Chapman, and Matt Norman.
