Sarah Alice Gantt White

Sarah “Alice” Gantt White, age 75, a cherished member of the Taylorsville community, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Carolina Caring in Catawba County. Born on Wednesday, February 22, 1950, in Alexander County, Alice devoted her life to her family, firm in her love for them and the joy she found in their presence.

During her working career, Alice served as the office manager for Market Basket Food Stores, where her dedication and commitment were widely acknowledged. A member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church, she embraced her spirituality and community with warmth and generosity.

Alice had a special passion for family activities, particularly relishing moments spent watching her grandchildren engage in their various sports. These treasured memories will remain in the hearts of her loved ones as a testament to her enduring legacy.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William Robert “Bobby” White, and their sons, Bryan White (Donna) and Jason White (Sarah), grandchildren, Mebane, Harper, Larkin, Causey, and Gibson White. Alice's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she will be sorely missed by them.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Barney Silas Gantt and Unie Alice Lowman Gantt, her brothers Wayne Lowman and David Gantt, and her sister Mary Hamby. 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 4:00 pm. Rev. Mark Marshall will officiate.
