Scotty Glenn Pennell, age 53, of the Dover Community, Taylorville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Wilkes Regional Hospital. He was born on October 5, 1962 in Alexander County to the late Kearney Hall and Shirley Bowman Pennell, who survives. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and member of the cemetery committee. He was a donor thru the N.C. Eye Bank, giving sight to the blind. He was a 1981 graduate of ACHS. He loved riding the Blue Ridge Parkway and going to the beach. He will be long remembered for his love for his family, especially his mom and dad and his boys. He was one of the "hardest working man" you could know and loved doing for others.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Anna Marie Bean Pennell, two sons, Zachary Scott and Nicholas Walker Pennell. He has one brother, Tim Pennell & wife Peggy, all of Taylorsville. He will be missed by two nieces Tara Geicer of Taylorsville and Brooke Trepal of Winston Salem. He has two great nieces and a great nephew, Layla Geiger, Taylorsville, and Leah and Jacob Trepal, both of Winston Salem. He is survived by two aunts, Ruth Etta White & husband Jimmy and Geneva Deal & husband Harry, all of Taylorsville.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Service and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Dover Baptist Church, with the Revs. Phil Jolly and Robert Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Tony Foster, Gary Coonse, Randy Icard, Rayford Deal, Michael Nail, and Rick Icenhour.
