Shirley Carrigan Jolly,

Shirley Faye Carrigan Jolly, age 90, of Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Valley Nursing Center. She was born on July 11, 1924 in Alexander County to the late Benjamin Harrison Carrigan and Mollie Rebecca Sweet Carrigan. Shirley worked at Schneider Mills for 35 years before she retired, and she also was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spoiling her grandchildren. Shirley was famous for her jelly. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Graydon Jolly; sons: David and Harry Jolly, and infant son, Roger Lynn Jolly; daughter: Faye Jolly; brothers: Tarrie, Clyde, Buck, and Rom Carrigan; and sisters: Maggie Herman, AnnaBelle Mullis, Bessie Harrington, Dellie Chatham, Cecil Chatham, Betty Jo Smith, and Ruby Smith. Those left to cherish her memory include son: Aaron Jolly and wife, Sandra; granddaughters: Dana Leigh Cole and husband, Tony; Jenny Hammer, April Jenkins and husband, Joel; and Amanda Jordan and husband, Will; great grandchildren: Chelsea Hammer, Morgan, Madeline, and Kendall Jenkins, Stella Cole, and Anna and Easton Jordan; daughter-in-law: Dana Jolly; a special niece: Anita Carrigan; and a host of other family members.



Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Randy Walsh, Joel Jenkins, Will Jordan, Tony Cole, Matthew Millsaps, and Anthony George.
