Sonya Stroud Moore

July 29, 1953 — December 3, 2022

Sonya Stroud Moore, age 69, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022, at her residence in Alexander County. Ms. Moore was born to the late Luther Dorman Stroud and Mary Lee Brotherton Stroud on July 29, 1953, in Iredell County. During her working career she worked in the furniture industry. She was a member of Emerald Baptist Church. Sonya enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, scrapbooking, cats, and church activities.

Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Coach Don Moore.

Those left to cherish the memories of Sonya include her daughters, Carrie Moore Nines (Ronald) of Yancyville, NC, Ryanne-Leigh Moore-Gregory (Powell) of Fort Mill, SC, sister, Allyson Stroud of Statesville, two grandchildren, Aden Rachol and Finley Nines of Yancyville, NC, and a number of special friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Emerald Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Family will receive friends following the service. Rev. Bernard Coulter and Terrill Davis-Coulter will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.

The family will accept flowers, or donations can be made to Emerald Baptist Church, 7169 Millersville Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
