Stephen Farrell Pope, age 70, of Statesville passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on January 15, 1943 to the late James Farrell and Nettie Morrison Pope, he retired from Waste Water management in the Iredell County School system. Stephen loved his family, camping and riding his motorcycle. To his friends he was known as "Steve", but to his family and those who were close to him, he was known as "fatbelly". Those remaining to cherish his memory are two sons: Stephen Pope II and wife Tina, and Jamie Pope and wife Christy. One daughter - Stephanie Rash and husband Paul. Six grandchildren - Matthew, Quentin, Will, and Hannah Pope, and Alexa and Haley Rash. He also leaves behind one uncle - Bill Morrison and two aunts - Frances Morrison and Isabel Morrison.
A graveside service will be held at New Sterling Church Cemetery in Stony Point on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 4:00 pm. Rev. Phil Addison and Rev. Mitchell Rash officiating.
