Suma Sloop,

Suma Glenn Deal Sloop, age 95, of Bethlehem, passed away on Thursday, July 15th, 2010.  Suma was born to parents Edgar Justin and Texie Queen Deal on July 12th, 1915 in Alexander County.  She worked for the Hickory Daily Record for 52 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred H. Sloop; sisters: Ruby Jenette McGee of Kernersville, and Annie Beatrice Sherrill of Hickory; and brothers: Seth, Ernest, Harold, and Russell Deal.  She is survived by her brother, A. Lee Deal and wife Dot of Bristol, TN; a host of nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Betty Francisco.  A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, July 25th, at 2 P.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church where the Rev. Doug Foster will officiate.  Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home; 1265 21st St Ne, Hickory, 28601.  Alexander Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
