Vanoah “Nora” Stafford, 94 of Taylorsville died at her home Sunday afternoon, February 13, 2011. She was born November 9, 1916 in Alexander County to the late Avery and Maggie Jenkins. She had worked as a Looper in the Textile industry for years. Mrs. Stafford was a member of Liledoun Baptist Church and she enjoyed sewing and quilting. Mrs. Stafford is survived by her son Marshall Stafford and wife, Cheryl; grandchildren include Lisa Yow and husband, Ronnie, Heather Houston and husband, Scott, Lee Stafford and wife, Deanna; and Shawn Travis. Great-grandchildren include Dustin Barnes, Timmy Stafford, and Zoë Houston. And also a number of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 18 siblings. Visitation for Mrs. Stafford will be held Tuesday evening, February 15 from 5—7 pm at Liledoun Baptist Church, with the Funeral Service to immediately follow with the Dr. James Lockee to officiate. Burial will be on Wednesday, February 16, 11:00am at the Liledoun Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Coy Walker officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western North Carolina Chapter at 3 Louisiana Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806.
