Vernon Charles, Sr.,

Vernon Roy Charles, Sr. age 69 of Hiddenite, passed away on May 22, 2012 in Banner-Baywood Hospital in Mesa, AZ.  Born September 8, 1942 to the late Bud Wayne and Hazel Osborne Charles in Wolford, VA, Mr. Charles was best known as owner of Vernon Charles Electric Contractors, before his retirement.  Vernon was a member of Hiddenite Church of God.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ellen Crabtree Charles and one son Teddy Crabtree.  He is survived by two sons:  Vernon R. Charles, Jr. and wife, Darlene of Taylorsville, and Danny Ray Charles of Hiddenite.  Four grandchildren:  Shannon Crabtree, Amanda Jordan, and April Jenkins all of Taylorsville, as well as Teddy Charles of Charlotte.  Mr. Charles has nine great-grandchildren and one expected.  Charles has one sister, Patsy Agnew of Mesa, AZ and one niece, Lisa Cotton also of Mesa.  Visitation will be conducted on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Alexander Funeral Service from 7:00 – 8:30 pm, with private graveside services on Wednesday, June 6 in Taylorsville City Cemetery.
