Vilee Keever Starnes, age 100, passed away on Sat. March 19, 2011 in Brian Ctr. Nursing Home, Hickory. Born, April 4, 1910 in Alexander County, to the late Clark Cephus and Artie Minniebelle Fox Keever, she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and had a passion for fishing, a hobby that she enjoyed at every opportunity. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husbands, Erastus “Rass” Dagenhart, Taff Miller, and Kenner “June” Starnes. Three brothers, Roy, Jack and W.D. “Dubb” Keever, as well as one sister, Eva Keever. She was preceded by one daughter, Gaynell Miller, one son, Calvin Leon “Bud” Dagenhart, one grandson, Mark Starnes. Survivors include one son, Harlee “Buck” Dagenhart and wife Mae of Taylorsville. Two daughters Marie Dagenhart Starnes, of Taylorsville, and Rachel Miller Hefner and husband James “Butch” of Hickory. She will be remembered by 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2011, from 2-3:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service, with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Friendship Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Johnson, Rev. Paul Schronce and Rev. Gary Jennings will officiate. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
