Viven Ruth Rader,

Viven Ruth Rader, age 77 of Taylorsville went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice.  She was born April 3, 1937 in Alexander County to the late Henry William and Helen Bowman Goodnight who died shortly after Viven's birth.  She was lovingly raised by Pansy Goodnight.  As a member of First Baptist Church, Taylorsville, she helped in the nursery and taught Vacation Bible School.  Viven was also a member of the Alexander County Republican Women.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years George Calvin Rader, one sister, Kathy Goodnight and two grandsons, Van William Powell and Charles Rader Powell.
Those remaining to cherish her memories are a daughter - Tammy Powell and husband Van of Raleigh; one son - Brent Rader and wife Donna of Taylorsville.  Her grandchildren include Tom Powell and wife Hannah of Advance; Anna Powell of Raleigh, Megan Rader and Mason Rader of Taylorsville.  Other survivors include  a sister - Sara Frazier and husband Arnold of Apex; two brothers - Paul Goodnight and wife Sally of Taylorsville, and Fred Goodnight and wife Tina of Trussville, AL; two aunts - Rosada Lackey and husband Kendall of Charlotte, and Mabel Chapman of Charlotte; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for Mrs. Rader will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 at First Baptist Church - Taylorsville from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm with the funeral service to begin at 3:00 pm.  Rev. Dan Redding Jr. will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the  Taylorsville City Cemetery.
