Walter Lee Auton, age 69, of Taylorsville passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at his residence.
He was born to the late Lee Walter and Lettie Edna Daniels Auton on April 11, 1949 in Alexander County.
Walter was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a Church Deacon, member of the choir, and a Sunday school teacher. He loved working on cars, and was known as the “neighborhood handyman”. He loved his family especially his grandson; Levi and always put others before himself. Walter was employed at Carolina Glove Mill for 54 years.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers; Vonteener and Bobbie Auton and infant brothers; Jakie Daniels and Elisha Auton, one sister; Luedell Harrington.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years; Renay Dianne Parsons Auton, son; Joseph and wife Stephanie, one grandchild; Levi, brothers; Jimmy Auton and wife Sheliah, Frankie Auton, and Danny Auton, sisters; Effie Deal, Judy Barnes and husband Charles “Toon’, Linda Dagenhart and husband Gene, Elaine Hamlin and husband Travis, with a number of special nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Chris Goforth and the Rev. Darren Lambert officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
